The Glengyle Distillery in the Campbeltown region of Scotland was founded in 1872, and closed in 1925. In late 2000 the company of Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd. was formed with the express purpose of renovating and rebuilding the Glengyle distillery. Over the next four years the buildings were repaired. Since the original distillery equipment had been disposed of in the 1920s, new stills<\/a>, malt mills<\/a>, a mash tun<\/a> and washbacks<\/a> were installed along with all the related equipment. Production started in 2004, under the name Kilkerran Single Malt.<\/p>\n

Releasing a number of Work In Progress bottling\u2019s since 2009 the Glengyle distillery has been slowly maturing its new make spirit in ex-bourbon barrels (70%) and ex-sherry barrels (30%) for 12 years to create a new member to its standard expressions. A vatted single malt excitingly smooth, delicious and well worth the wait.\"Kilkerran<\/p>\n

Tasting Notes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Nose:<\/strong> Inviting and homely straight away. Ripe green apples, herbal sweetness and rich in sugar glazed apricots.<\/p>\n

Palate:<\/strong> It\u2019s nuts! Rich oily walnuts, continuing the wholesome notes from the nose. More a work in perfection than work in progress, with a great delicate balance between the sweeter fruit notes and lively spices. It is un-mistakenly Campbeltown, so comforting and rich. It gets sweeter and stickier with a touch of water.<\/p>\n

Finish:<\/strong> This dram is not for the impatient! Treat it like a cryptic crossword, give it time and enjoy this fabulous Campbeltown spirit.<\/p>\n
